THE FIELD GUIDE
One product.
One useful experiment.
Marketing helps the right people discover your product. Sales helps them decide it is worth paying for. Start by finding one repeatable path between the two.
Let the business choose the next step.
If people do not understand your promise, test your message. If they sign up but get stuck, improve the first experience. If customers keep getting value, test a way to reach more people like them.
A few customer observations can be a useful first experiment for an early app. They are one possible recommendation inside GrowPlease, not a requirement before using it.
Walk through the analysis and recommendation process →Follow value, all the way to a customer.
- Audience
- The specific people whose problem your product solves. “Parents who want a calmer bedtime” is more useful than “everyone with children.”
- Activation
- The first time someone gets the promised value. For a story app, this might be finishing a first story, rather than just creating an account.
- Conversion
- The share of people who take the next step. If 4 of 100 visitors subscribe, visitor-to-customer conversion is 4%.
- Customer acquisition cost (CAC)
- Acquisition spend divided by new paying customers. A $60 experiment that brings 3 customers has a $20 advertising CAC; include time and other costs when judging the full effort.
- Retention
- Whether customers return and keep getting value. Cheap signups alone do not tell you whether the product is working.
- Budget
- An upper allowance, not a target to use up. Consider what remains after product costs and fees when deciding what you can afford to spend acquiring a customer.
Write down what you expect to learn.
Choose one audience, one message, and one action you want people to take. Decide what you will spend, when you will review it, and what result would justify another test.
Show two versions of your product’s promise to a few people in the intended audience. Ask what they think it does and who it helps. Use their answers to improve the landing page before bringing in more visitors.
With a small budget, keep your first experiment focused. A handful of clicks or customers is an early signal; record the uncertainty alongside the result.
Keep the plan and the spending connected.
GrowPlease explains a recommendation, prepares material, and records your approval. In this release, you publish and manage live campaigns yourself. Approving a local plan does not start ads or enforce a spending limit at an ad provider.
AI usage has its own allowance. Advertising accounts and payment methods stay with their providers. Review claims and generated images before sharing them.
